DIFFERENT TYPES OF LIFTING CERTIFICATES

So, your safety officer has told you that you need a safety certificate, but what is it and what type do you need?

Different Types of Certificates

Test Certificate

These certificates are given when equipment is physically proof tested. This can be done either inhouse at one of our locations or, we can organise our staff to visit your worksite depending on what is required. Each type of lifting, rigging and height safety equipment may fall under a number of different Australian standards. At All Lifting, our customers can be confident that any load testing conducted, is undertaken by one of our highly proficient specialists.

Mill Certificate

This certificate is provided from the manufacturer specifically for wire rope. You can find information such as size, length, diameter, grade, finish, material, lubrication, type of core, lay and minimum breaking force.

Visual Inspection Certificate

This certificate is provided when a visual inspection is conducted. There is no need to proof test the item; however, a full-proof test must be done for some brand-new equipment. This type of certificate is usually for fabricated items such as beams, cages, bins etc. It could also be that a separate certificate is required rather than having all of your equipment listed on a register (see below for more information)

Inspection Register

An inspection register is the record of your equipment’s last test and tag. You will find listed all information needed for your equipment including serial numbers, description and next inspection date, which should be kept for your records. We also have an online portal with 24/7 access to your inspection reports if you sign up to our TEAM system.

This system will send you reminders of when your gear is due for its next inspection taking the stress out of remembering these important dates.

The Australian standards specify anyone inspecting lifting, rigging and height safety equipment must be properly trained and qualified in both, theory and practical knowledge. Inspectors need to be able to identify each standard that belongs to the item they are inspecting.

It’s important to keep in mind brand-new gear also needs to be tested and certified. Additionally, even if the equipment has been in service for a long period of time, you still need to get your equipment checked and certified regularly to prevent accidents. These inspections should be performed at regular periodic intervals throughout the year, each piece of equipment will have a visible tag fitted after passing its inspection.
