THE IMPORTANCE FOR HEIGHT SAFETY MARITIME BOAT TESTING

Assessing height safety should be a high priority within the maritime industry. Working at sea can potentially be very risky, as the risk of a fall is vastly higher due to the motion of the sea whilst onboard; where slippery surfaces and extreme heights are found. Height safety gear and other mechanisms on vessels need to be regularly checked. Particularly when considering the remote locations and inaccessibility of gear when abroad.

At all Lifting we offer a complete height safety testing service, and we make sure your gear is complying with regulatory standards. In some instances, a safer working environment can be achieved through the replacement of relevant gear, subject to your safety inspection. We understand that many of the tasks performed on board may be working at height. We are committed to protecting the safety and well-being of all workers and personnel that might use fall prevention systems.

Every vessel will vary on the types of devices that are used on board, which can include harnesses, anchor points and anchor chain. As a side to this we also inspect and test safety rail systems which is the system that personnel use to provide a mobile attachment point when cleaning the hull as shown in the image below.

Fall arrest harnesses are an essential measure to reduce risk of injury if a fall is still possible after using other control measures. However, all these devices need to be correctly installed and used to ensure they effectively reduce the risk of a fall. Therefore, at All Lifting we provide the highest quality products, so we make sure you and your staff are safe.
